Caveman and Crow Study

I was listening to the radio on the way to work this morning and heard about a study being done on a college campus.  They wanted to know if birds, more specifically crows, could recognize faces.

To determine this they devised the following plan.  They had one of their guys wear a caveman mask.  He then walked around campus catching crows, scaring them, tagging them and setting them free.  After awhile they noted whether the crows they caught cawed at him or not.  Also they noted if crows they didn't catch also cawed at him.

The results of the study didn't really interest me.  However can you imagine seeing the study taking place?  You're on your way to Calculus and see a guy in a caveman costume running around campus with a net.  He then jumps on a crow yells at it for awhile and lets it go.  You ask him what's going on and he yells "It's an experiment" through the caveman mask.

So the real question is, why didn't anyone call the cops on the crazy caveman costume guy? :)
